Wanna know why Americans call football soccer?

When Harvard university refused to play football/soccer with the other Ivy League universities, American Football became the past time (the term derived from the early rules of football, where the foot was actually used) and since football was now a coined term (because we decided to be nothing like the British) “the association of football” was created, and since that is such a long term, association was shortened into soccer, and that is why Americans from the United States call is soccer
